Hold On You

Hearing this song on the Cambridge website, I was immediately drawn to the feel of the song. I thought the groove and instruments were similar to something I might come up with, so I wanted some practice turning it into something different as inspiration in my own projects.

Variation 1

My first variation of the song is a change to half time during the second verse. The slower feel would be a nice contrast between the verse and the more upbeat choruses.

Variation 2

The second variation adds sound effects as ambience and a replacement for the kick and snare. Most of the sounds used were household objects, like matches or a kitchen knife, as well as sounds coming from instruments, like a guitar case unlocking or an amp being turned on.

Variation 3

The third variation takes out the lyrics and the lead guitar, turning the song into an instrumental mix stem. I think this stem is really good for adding a new lead to replace the slide guitar, or some more highs to give the song some more balance.
